About the Gun

Built on the patented modular steel frame with polymer grip, the Eagle delivers the traditional features of a 1911 and allows the added benefit of high capacity magazines. The frame design preserves the original 1911 angle of the grip in relation to the slide. The essential design element for high capacity, the polymer grip, allows for double stack magazines without over-sizing the circumference of the grip, which remains comparatively the same as the circumference of a 1911. The Eagle has a classic scalloped slide with front and rear cocking serrations, dovetail front sight and adjustable rear sight. The Eagle comes standard with features such as a stainless steel hi-ride grip safety and stainless steel ambi-thumb safety.

Analysis

This .40 S&W pistol offers notable precision, thanks to its well-crafted barrel and tight tolerances, making it a solid choice for target shooting or competition. The ergonomic design fits comfortably in most hands, with a grip that supports a natural shooting stance and aids in control during rapid fire. Reliability is a strong point, as it cycles smoothly with a variety of ammunition, showing consistent performance under regular use. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4.5 pounds, which enhances accuracy for shooters who value a predictable break. However, felt recoil is somewhat sharp due to the chambering, potentially fatiguing for extended sessions, especially for less experienced users. On the downside, maintenance can be intricate, requiring attention to detail for proper care. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges, as availability isn’t always guaranteed, which could frustrate some owners over time.
