Analysis

This 9mm semi-automatic pistol, introduced in the mid-20th century, offers a blend of traditional design and practical functionality that appeals to many shooters. Its accuracy is commendable, benefiting from a well-balanced frame and a sight picture that aids in precise shot placement. Ergonomically, the grip design accommodates a variety of hand sizes, providing a comfortable hold during extended sessions. Reliability is generally solid, with consistent performance under typical conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, as disassembly and cleaning require attention to detail. Availability of replacement parts may also pose a challenge for some owners due to the model’s age. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4-5 pounds in double-action mode, though some users might find it heavy initially. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most, making it suitable for both novice and experienced shooters seeking a classic design.

Model 39

Bought this gun new before I purchased the Model 659, also new, later on. First 9mm pistol I ever owned and was pleasantly surprised as to how well rounded this pistol actually was! Small round capacity with a smallish grip frame and it became a great trainer for my petite wife. She was surprised at the bark but soon became accustomed to it and ultimately became her gun of choice. I had no choice but to give it up totally — lol. (Reason for the 659 purchase). MikeB.
