Analysis

This compact .40 caliber pistol offers a solid choice for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable for a firearm in this size category, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances. The ergonomic design provides a comfortable grip for most hand sizes, aiding in control during extended shooting sessions. Reliability is a strong point, with the firearm functioning well under various conditions, even with minimal maintenance. However, upkeep can be somewhat demanding, as regular cleaning is necessary to prevent malfunctions due to the tight tolerances. Parts availability may pose a challenge in some regions, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp but on the heavier side, which might not suit all shooters. Felt recoil is noticeable, as expected in a lightweight frame with this caliber, requiring practice to manage effectively for newer users. Overall, it’s a practical option with considerations for specific preferences.

S&W M&P Shield is my new CCW piece
By GThomas on 24 Jul 2020
I've only owned the S&W M&P Shield in .40 S&W for a few years now. But it has never failed to go bang when at the range. The Shield was purchased at BassPro on sale for ONLY 249 DOLLARS! It seems to be well put together, and disassembles easily for cleaning. Doesn't seem to be picky about ammo either, feeding and firing everything tried so far.
