About the Gun

SD Series striker fired polymer frame pistols evolved from Smith & Wesson's earlier Sigma pistol designs. They are meant to fall between the company’s Sigma and M&P lines, both in terms of features and price. The first generation models came with a Melonite finish slide and a tritium night front sight. The second generation models come with a stainless steel slide and standard combat 3 dot sights. Features include deeply defined front and rear serrations on the slide and an ergonomic grip with textured grip panels.

Analysis

This .40 caliber polymer-framed pistol offers a solid option for shooters seeking a balance of performance and affordability. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, while the ergonomic grip design accommodates a variety of hand sizes, enhancing control during use. Reliability is a strong point, with the firearm functioning well under diverse conditions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to a stiffer disassembly process, which may frustrate less experienced users. Availability of aftermarket parts and accessories is limited compared to more popular platforms, potentially hindering customization. The trigger pull is notably heavy, which could affect precision for some shooters, though it contributes to safety. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most, but those sensitive to snap in this caliber might find it less comfortable during extended sessions. Overall, it’s a practical choice with trade-offs to consider.

Not that I had any complaints of the stock trigger weight but M*Carbo had a great kit to change the 7lb+ pull to a 4lb+ ! This made a good gun AWESOME!
