About the Gun

SD Series striker fired polymer frame pistols evolved from Smith & Wesson's earlier Sigma pistol designs. They are meant to fall between the company’s Sigma and M&P lines, both in terms of features and price. The first generation models came with a Melonite finish slide and a tritium night front sight. The second generation models come with a stainless steel slide and standard combat 3 dot sights. Features include deeply defined front and rear serrations on the slide and an ergonomic grip with textured grip panels.

Analysis

This 9mm semi-automatic pistol offers a solid option for shooters seeking a reliable and budget-friendly firearm. Its accuracy is commendable for both novice and experienced users, delivering consistent performance at typical defensive ranges. The ergonomic grip design enhances comfort and control, accommodating a variety of hand sizes with interchangeable backstraps. Reliability is a key asset, as it functions well under diverse conditions with minimal malfunctions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to a stiffer disassembly process, which may frustrate less experienced owners. Additionally, aftermarket parts and accessories are less abundant, potentially limiting customization options. The trigger pull, averaging around 8 pounds, feels heavy for some, which could affect precision during rapid fire. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most, though it may be noticeable for shooters sensitive to kick in this caliber range.

Great gun!

I wouldn't call it just as good as the Glock 19 that it's based on but it's still a great reliable pistol. I've had mine for 7 years and no major failures.
