About the Gun

SD Series striker fired polymer frame pistols evolved from Smith & Wesson's earlier Sigma pistol designs. They are meant to fall between the company’s Sigma and M&P lines, both in terms of features and price. The first generation models came with a Melonite finish slide and a tritium night front sight. The second generation models come with a stainless steel slide and standard combat 3 dot sights. Features include deeply defined front and rear serrations on the slide and an ergonomic grip with textured grip panels.

About the Cartridge

This cartridge was introduced along with the Luger semi-automatic pistol. The pistol and cartridge was first adopted by the German Navy in 1904 and then by the German Army in 1908. This cartridge has since been adopted by the military of practically every non-Communist power. It has become the most popular and widely-used handgun cartridge in the world. Performance wise, the 9 mm cartridge has somewhat more power than the .38 Special but falls well short of the .357 Magnum.
