About the Gun

The SW9C is a compact, polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol of conventional double-stack configuration. It uses a black polymer frame with the aggressive texturing of the first-generation Sigma and a dark-blued steel slide. There is no accessory rail. The trigger is a long, relatively heavy pre-set striker pull, and the sights are fixed three-dot. Barrel and grip length are shortened relative to the full-size F models.

Analysis

Smith & Wesson introduced the SW9C in the mid-1990s as the compact counterpart to the original full-size Sigma F-series. It retained the black polymer frame and dark-blued slide of the early guns while offering a shorter overall package for easier concealment or carry. Like the SW9F and SW40F, it appeared during the period of the 1994 magazine-capacity restrictions and the Glock patent litigation. Production was brief; the model was discontinued as the company shifted to the revised VE series with updated grip geometry and trigger characteristics. The SW9C is among the less frequently encountered first-generation Sigmas due to its limited production window.
