The Model 686SSR (Stock Service Revolver) is set up specifically for the stock service revolver (SSR) class in IDPA competition. IDPA does not allow revolvers with more than 6 rounds. The gun comes from the factory with some features that are desirable to many competition shooters, such as chamfered cylinder holes, forged hammer and trigger, and a slightly better trigger pull. The 4" barrel is the maximum length allowed for IDPA, and the slab-siding helps the pistol feel a little more like the 'K'-frames in terms of weight.
