About the Gun

The Croatian made XD pistol represents Springfield Armory's entry into the polymer-frame striker-fired pistol market. Although Springfield Armory introduced the XD in 2002, an earlier incarnation of the design known as the HS2000 had been independently imported into the US three years before. The XD model introduced many manufacturing improvements that have given the pistol a reputation for reliability and accuracy. While often compared to the GLock, the XD has a distinctly different trigger action that includes a unique 1911-style grip safety, and both a cocked status indicator and a loaded chamber indicator.

About the Cartridge

This cartridge was developed by John Browning and was adopted by the United States Ordnance Department along with the Colt-Browning automatic pistol in 1911. It has also been made the official military handgun chambering by several other governments, notably Argentina, Mexico and Norway. The 45 Automatic is the most powerful military handgun cartridge in use today. This is a heavy and powerful sub-sonic round. Although its muzzle energy can exceed 400 ft-lbs, its velocity and bullet weight creates a steep trajectory curve that limits its effective range to self-defense distances.

AN ALL-AROUND EXCELLENT .45 PISTOL.

This is a great coming-of-age .45 caliber pistol. It has the look,power and feel of classic sidearms such as the 1911's, yet it constitutes a polymer frame so is lighter.That being said, it's different, but positively so and is the most fun pistol l have ever shot in my life! Aesthetics, balance,ergonomic,reliability and superb craftsmanship quality is what this pistol is about,with no issues in its operation to speak of.Accuracy is top-notch.l can emphatically recommend it to anyone who seeks to buy a .45 caliber pistol---newbie or seasoned shooter.
