Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol offers a solid choice for shooters seeking a reliable and accurate firearm. Its design prioritizes precision, with a well-balanced frame that aids in consistent shot placement during range sessions. The ergonomics are thoughtfully crafted, providing a comfortable grip for a wide range of hand sizes, which enhances control during extended use. Reliability is a key asset, as it performs consistently even under varied conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring meticulous attention to keep it in optimal condition. Availability of replacement parts may also pose a challenge for some owners, potentially leading to delays in repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, which suits most users, though some might prefer a lighter option. Felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable with proper technique, making it accessible to both novice and experienced shooters.

I've owned mine since 1994 and have put tens of thousands of rounds through it. It's still accurate and still functions perfectly. The only feed or eject issues I've ever had with it were 185 gr. semi-wadcutters. The shoulder on the bullet occasionally gets snagged at the top of the breech going in, and because of the stiff spring, a lite 185 grain load won't fully eject sometimes. I've never had an issue with any other load. It is definitely small enough for concealed carry, (I do) but it is very, very heavy. The weight was really helpful when I used it for competition, though. If you buy one of these pistols, find the 7-round extended magazines for it. It gives you room for your pinky finger and improves the overall look of the gun.

For better or worse this gun is put heavy duty. When holding it, you know you have a gun in your hand. It a shorter barrel, similar to a commander but doesn't really have much in common with the typical 1911 models most are accustomed to when thinking of a .45. I've owned mine for about 6 years or more & never had a failure to feed, stove pipe, jam etc. I keep mine in my night stand beside where I sleep. If you cent shoot a man with the 6 rounds in the mag then you can literally turn it around & use it as a melee weapon. Trust me, a pistol whipping from this gun would get ugly fast. It's small enough for CC but certainly a bit on the heavy side IMO. For the right price though, I'd buy it again in a second. I paid $300 for mine & have never regretted it.
