About the Gun

The Taurus DT Hybrid series semiauto pistols are built on a polymer-over-steel frame and chambered in 9mm or .40 SW. Features include a strike two-capable trigger; i.e., if the primer ever fails to ignite when firing in single-action mode, the gun reverts to double action mode to provide a potentially life-saving second or third try at a faulty cartridge. The pistol will then automatically revert back to single action mode. This pistol also features contoured ambidextrous thumb rests and finger indexing memory pads that offer added purchase. The ambidextrous magazine release makes this pistol work for left- or right-handed shooters, and the rear sight is fully adjustable. Offered with a blued or matte stainless finish, the pistol includes a manual safety, a visual loaded chamber indicator, a trigger safety and the key-based Taurus Security System.

About the Cartridge

This cartridge was introduced along with the Luger semi-automatic pistol. The pistol and cartridge was first adopted by the German Navy in 1904 and then by the German Army in 1908. This cartridge has since been adopted by the military of practically every non-Communist power. It has become the most popular and widely-used handgun cartridge in the world. Performance wise, the 9 mm cartridge has somewhat more power than the .38 Special but falls well short of the .357 Magnum.
