Analysis

This revolver in the .327 Federal Magnum caliber offers a compelling blend of performance and versatility for shooters seeking a compact yet potent firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at moderate ranges, making it suitable for both defensive and recreational use. The ergonomics are well-designed, with a grip that accommodates various hand sizes, ensuring comfort during extended sessions. Reliability is a strong point, as it functions smoothly across a range of ammunition types. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to keep it in optimal condition. Availability of replacement parts may pose a challenge for some users, potentially leading to delays in repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4-5 pounds in single action, though it feels heavier in double action. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most, but newer shooters might find it slightly sharp due to the cartridge’s power.

Taurus 327 Federal Magnum
By gunneyrabbit on 11 Sep 2026
I purchased this stainless steel revolver on a whim and i’m happy I did. The single and double action trigger is perfectly acceptable for EDC. The revolver handles heavy 100 grain loads with ease. Single and double action accuracy is excellent at 50 feet, almost to the point of being boring. Very hot loads have a tendency to stick in the cylinder which is not uncommon for this caliber. Taurus has upped its game of late improving the quality of their products and the 22 oz., six shot 327 Federal magnum revolver is perfectly serviceable for every day carry or punching holes in paper. My only thought that would be an improvement is that the stock rubber grips need a larger palm swell for improved comfort and accuracy during fast strings of fire.
