About the Cartridge

This cartridge was introduced along with the Luger semi-automatic pistol. The pistol and cartridge was first adopted by the German Navy in 1904 and then by the German Army in 1908. This cartridge has since been adopted by the military of practically every non-Communist power. It has become the most popular and widely-used handgun cartridge in the world. Performance wise, the 9 mm cartridge has somewhat more power than the .38 Special but falls well short of the .357 Magnum.

Walther CCP

We own two of these pistoles, a generation one and a gen. two model. Ergonomics are the best I’ve ever experienced on any semiautomatic pistol, triggers were a little gritty at first but quickly smoothed out on both and became very nice with medium take up then a crisp 4.6 lb. release. Recoil is very manageable and both pistols are freakishly accurate, wracking the slide is easier than any other 9mm pistol I own. Field strip and reassembly is little difficult at first on then gen. one model but once you’ve done it several times it’s no longer a problem. The gen. two field strip and reassembly has been dramatically improved by Walther with no need for the take down tool. Regular cleaning after each range day is mandatory or the pistol will jam up on you, most importantly is cleaning the piston and gas tube. Walther suggests Hopes 9 with a wet swab rest then fallow up with a brass or bronze brush and cotton patch swabs until they pull out clean.
