About the Gun

The P22 is an identical, but smaller .22LR caliber version of Walther's 9mm Model P99 pistol. Like the P99, it is a polymer frame, double-action (DA/SA), semi-automatic pistol. Unlike the P99, it is hammer-fired and utilizes a fixed barrel, straight blowback operation, as do most .22LR caliber pistols. The safety and magazine release controls are ambidextrous. The frame includes an integrated accessory rail and the grip has interchangeable palmswells.

Analysis

This .22 LR semi-automatic pistol offers a compelling option for shooters seeking a lightweight, user-friendly firearm for training or recreational use. Its ergonomic design fits comfortably in most hands, promoting a secure grip during extended sessions. Accuracy is commendable for its class, making it suitable for target practice at moderate ranges. Reliability is generally consistent with quality ammunition, though occasional feeding issues can arise with lower-grade rounds. The trigger pull is smooth with a moderate weight, providing decent control without excessive effort. Felt recoil is minimal, ideal for newer shooters or those sensitive to kick. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat intricate, requiring patience to disassemble and clean properly. Availability of replacement parts may pose challenges in some regions, and certain users might find the slide manipulation stiff. Overall, it serves well for its intended purpose with minor caveats to consider.

It doesn't like Remington ammo at first. After it is broken in it eats any ammo
