About the Gun

The Model 625 is a six shot double action revolver chambered for the .45 Auto cartridge. Based on an 'N'-frame, the Model 625 was introduced as the .45 CAL MODEL OF 1988, in 1988. The 625 will headspace the .45 Auto cartridge in the chambers without use of moon clips, but since the extractor star cannot engage the rimless cartridge, moon clips are needed to facilitate ejection.

Analysis

This .45 Auto caliber revolver offers notable precision, thanks to its well-balanced design and consistent barrel alignment, making it a reliable choice for target shooting and competitive use. The ergonomics are commendable, with a grip that accommodates a wide range of hand sizes, providing comfort during extended sessions. Reliability is a strong point, as it performs consistently under various conditions with minimal malfunctions when properly maintained. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to ensure smooth operation, and sourcing replacement parts may pose a challenge due to limited availability. The trigger pull is smooth and predictable, averaging around 4-5 pounds in double-action mode, which aids in maintaining accuracy. Felt recoil is moderate for the caliber, manageable for most shooters, though those sensitive to kick may require adjustment. Overall, it’s a solid option with considerations for upkeep and user preference.
