Analysis

This compact .25 Auto pistol offers a blend of practicality and performance for its size. Its accuracy is commendable for a small-frame handgun, making it suitable for close-range self-defense or casual plinking. The ergonomics are well-designed, with a grip that fits comfortably in smaller hands, though larger-handed users may find it less ideal. Reliability is generally solid when maintained properly, handling standard ammunition without frequent issues. However, maintenance can be cumbersome due to its intricate design, requiring patience and attention to detail. Parts availability is another concern, as sourcing replacements may prove challenging over time. The trigger pull is crisp but somewhat heavy, which could affect precision for newer shooters. Felt recoil is minimal, as expected in this caliber, ensuring manageable control during firing. Overall, it’s a functional choice for specific needs, provided users are aware of its limitations.

In the1963 Bond film, SPECTRE agent Red Grant (Robert Shaw) carries a very small hammer-fired automatic in an ankle hoster which he uses to overpower 007. Most .25 ACP pistols have shrouded hammers, the Baby Browning, for example, or an abbreviated hammer like the DAO CZ Model 45. The Beretta Model 950 has a spurred hammer, but it also has the distinctive Beretta open-top slide which Grant's gun lacks. I believe the gun used in the film was an Astra Cub.
