But, the gun takes its barrel and recoil design from its predecessor, the Model 8000 Cougar, which utilizes a unique rotating-barrel breech-locking technique, and it takes its trigger and action design from its classic predecessor the Model 92FS.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol offers a compelling option for shooters seeking a full-sized duty or personal defense firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent performance at typical engagement distances, while the ergonomic grip design accommodates a variety of hand sizes, enhancing control during extended shooting sessions. Reliability is a strong suit, with the rotating barrel system reducing wear and ensuring smooth operation even under adverse conditions. The trigger pull, averaging around 6 pounds in double-action mode, provides a predictable break, though some may find it slightly heavy for rapid follow-up shots. Felt recoil is manageable for a .45, thanks to the polymer frame and balanced weight distribution. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat complex due to the unique barrel mechanism, requiring more attention than simpler designs. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges for some users, potentially limiting long-term support.
