About the Gun

A faithful reproduction of the WWI Model 1911 U.S. Military sidearm, this vintage limited run of only 4,000 units is an accurate design after the early 1918 'Black Army'. During the US involvement of WWI, the finishing process was sped up to account for war efforts, and the standard Carbonia Blue finish was then changed to an almost black finish.

Production

This replica of a historic firearm was produced between 2018 and 2020 as a limited run to commemorate the centennial of World War I, crafted with authentic details to honor its iconic design and era.

Analysis

This WWI-era replica in .45 Auto caliber offers a faithful nod to historical design, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts alike. Its accuracy is commendable for a pistol of this style, delivering consistent performance at moderate ranges. The ergonomics reflect early 20th-century standards, with a grip that suits larger hands but may feel less intuitive for those accustomed to modern designs. Reliability is generally solid when properly maintained, though it demands regular care due to its traditional mechanics. On the downside, maintenance can be cumbersome, requiring specific knowledge of older systems, and sourcing replacement parts poses a challenge given the specialized nature of the firearm. The trigger pull is notably heavy, which might deter shooters seeking a lighter touch, and the felt recoil is pronounced, reflecting the robust cartridge and steel frame. Overall, it’s a niche piece best suited for dedicated users.
