Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol is a respected choice among shooters for its solid performance in key areas. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent groupings at typical defensive ranges, thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system. Ergonomically, it fits comfortably in most hands, with a grip that supports a natural point of aim, though some users with larger hands may find it slightly compact. Reliability is a strong suit, functioning smoothly with a variety of ammunition under standard conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring regular attention to prevent wear on critical components. Parts availability may pose challenges for older units, potentially leading to delays in repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4.5 to 5 pounds, which aids precision. Felt recoil is noticeable but manageable for experienced shooters, though novices might find it somewhat stout during extended sessions.

My overall Favorite

This pistol is my favorite gun to shoot in terms or accuracy and feel. The trigger prep and press really make sight alignment recovery much easier than my S&W M&P 9 Shield. Largely due to the fact this gun is so much heavier, and the trigger prep is so very slight. I am much more accurate with my shots at longer distances with this gun, but I feel that is due to the increased barrel length in comparison to the Shield 9. I do not carry it IWB. It is much too large for it to be comfortable enough for that. It is also not my preferred choice for CCW anyway. This gun is excellent for personal and home defense, but I rely on it mainly for home defense. I would definitely take it hunting to protect against bear attacks, but I would have to carry it in a chest holster for that purpose. Considering that this pistol design has been around for so long I don't think there is any reason to not own one. It's just a very fun and reliable shooter as well as it's easy to disassemble and clean.
