About the Gun

Features an exposed hammer, serrated slide, toggle safety/retracted slide lock combo, magazine safety, with magazine release button on the bottom of the left grip panel. Developed by Astra Firearms of Spain in 1954 as the Astra model Cub. These guns were imported into the US starting in 1958 as the Colt model Junior. The passage of the 1968 Gun Control Act, made import of weapons this size illegal and Colt was forced to cease importation of the Junior. In 1970 Colt got around this law by contracting with FIE to import the individual parts from Astra and assemble them in the US for Colt. This arrangement lasted through 1972 when Colt ceased marketing the Junior. FIE continued to make these guns as the FIE model A27, or "The Best" until 1988.

About the Cartridge

This cartridge was introduced in the United States along with the Browning-designed, Colt manufactured 'Vest Pocket' pistol. Also referred to as the 6.35mm Browning, this semi-rimmed centerfire cartridge has fairly high velocity for such a small size. However, the energy it delivers at any range is quite low. This, combined with the full metal jacketed bullet, adds up to a very poor stopping or killing power on anything. The .25 ACP is not powerful enough for hunting anything but pests, nor is it adequate for serious self defense. However, the .25 auto caliber pistols are popular because of their small size and low cost.
