About the Gun

This Colt Defender Series model is a short, light semi-automatic intended for concealed carry and police backup roles. The New Agent handles like a classic M1911, complete with a single-action trigger and a short single-column magazine. It employs the Colt Series 80 firing system. The New Agent has no sights in the conventional sense of rear notch and front post. Instead, a narrow full-length groove has been milled into the top of the slide, called a Trench Style sight. The bushingless bull barrel locks directly into the slide.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol offers a compact design tailored for concealed carry, with a focus on delivering consistent performance. Its accuracy is commendable for a firearm of this size, providing tight groupings at typical defensive ranges. The ergonomics are well-suited for most users, with a grip that facilitates a secure hold, though some may find it less comfortable for extended range sessions. Reliability is a strong point, functioning smoothly with a variety of ammunition under diverse conditions. However, maintenance can be somewhat involved, requiring attention to detail for proper care. Availability of replacement parts may pose a challenge, potentially delaying repairs. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, which aids in precision shooting. Felt recoil is noticeable, as expected in a lightweight .45, but remains manageable with proper technique, making it a viable option for both novice and experienced shooters seeking a defensive tool.
