While the original Cobras had their firing pins on the hammer, the new model uses a transfer bar and a frame-mounted firing pin. Also features a redesigned leaf mainspring.

Analysis

This double-action revolver in .38 Special +P offers a solid option for concealed carry or personal defense. Its compact frame and lightweight design enhance ease of carry, while the ergonomic grip provides a comfortable hold for most users, aiding in control during firing. Accuracy is commendable at typical defensive ranges, with consistent shot placement in testing. Reliability is a key asset, as the mechanism functions smoothly even after extended use. The trigger pull, however, is on the heavier side in double-action mode, which may require practice for newer shooters to master. Felt recoil is moderate with +P loads, manageable for experienced users but potentially sharp for those unaccustomed to higher-pressure rounds. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat involved due to the intricacies of the design, and sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges, potentially frustrating owners over time.
