About the Gun

Modeled after the FNP-45 service pistol introduced in 2007 under the U.S. Joint Combat Pistol Program, the FNX-45 is a double-action (DA/SA)hammer-driven pistol with highly enhanced ergonomics. Its manual safety/decocking levers, slide stop lever and magazine release are all fully ambidextrous for ease of operation with either hand and from any firing position. Both the slide and barrel are stainless steel. The FNX-45’s checkered polymer frame has multiple interchangeable backstraps with lanyard eyelets. A MIL-STD 1913 mounting rail on the underside accepts tactical lights and lasers.

About the Cartridge

This cartridge was developed by John Browning and was adopted by the United States Ordnance Department along with the Colt-Browning automatic pistol in 1911. It has also been made the official military handgun chambering by several other governments, notably Argentina, Mexico and Norway. The 45 Automatic is the most powerful military handgun cartridge in use today. This is a heavy and powerful sub-sonic round. Although its muzzle energy can exceed 400 ft-lbs, its velocity and bullet weight creates a steep trajectory curve that limits its effective range to self-defense distances.

Best Polymer Handgun Ever Built
By bassntwo on 04 Feb 2023
The best modern-day polymer handgun that has been built to date. I own a 9 mm with a stainless steel slide. When this FNX first came out I wasted no time in purchasing. I don't carry just any gun. Before this FNX I carried a 1911. I took this FNX to the range and before I cleaned it even the first time, I put 1,500 rounds down the tube, took it home cleaned it, and put another 1,500 rounds through it. Never hiccups, a jam, failure to feed, nothing. I have owned this FNX for 8 years and have over 15,000 rounds. I have shot every brand of hollow point and many different kinds of ball ammo. I am a licensed ammunition manufacturer, so I have also put a lot of hard casts lead down the barrel with a Brinell hardness of 10. Absolutely no leading of the barrel. I do take excellent care of all my firearms. I have had this one on my hip as my everyday carry outside of the waistband and a nice custom-made leather holster. This FNX will eat anything you put in it.
