About the Gun

Subcompact, polymer-framed pistol chambered in .45 Auto, built as a hybrid design that combines the short-frame (SF) grip of the G30SF with the slimmer, lighter slide and barrel assembly from the single-stack G36. It uses a locked-breech, short-recoil operating system with a polygonal rifled barrel and double-stack magazines holding 10 rounds standard (with optional 9-round flush-fit and extended magazines available). This is a Gen3 configuration, incorporating an accessory rail on the dust cover, finger grooves along the front strap, thumb rests on the frame sides, and the revised Gen3 grip texture pattern.

Analysis

The Glock 30S shares Gen3 mechanics in a hybrid slimmed-down layout, showing reliable durability in law enforcement backup roles, civilian concealed carry, and defensive applications. Major components maintain compatibility with Gen3 G30SF and G36 parts in key areas (particularly the slide, barrel, and recoil system), enabling aftermarket support with only minor differences in grip feel and overall weight compared to the standard G30 or G30SF. The polygonal rifling supports reliable function with a range of .45 ACP ammunition types and contributes to consistent practical accuracy at typical defensive distances. The combination of the short-frame grip (reduced trigger reach and backstrap depth) and the narrower G36-style slide results in a thinner, lighter package than the standard G30 while retaining double-stack capacity, improving concealability without sacrificing as much grip purchase as a full single-stack design. The accessory rail allows for mounting compact lights or lasers. Secondary market preferences depend primarily on condition, originality, remaining finish, and individual grip fit rather than any inherent differences in mechanical performance or durability relative to other Gen3 .45 ACP subcompacts.

A great powerful pocket size carry pistol. Very reliable and not too heavy. Love this pistol.
