About the Gun

The Gen 4 series of Glock pistols were introduced in 2010. Like most new polymer framed pistols the Gen 4 series features interchangeable grip inserts. The Gen 4 series also incorporates a dual recoil spring assembly, a feature only in previous generations' compact models. Other features include a reversible magazine release, a Tenifer matte finish slide and new grip texture. Changes in the Gen 4 design are significant enough such that not all parts can be mixed and matched with previous Glock generations.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol from a well-known manufacturer offers a full-size frame designed for duty and competition use, delivering commendable accuracy thanks to its longer barrel and sight radius. The ergonomics are a strong point, with an adjustable grip system that accommodates various hand sizes, enhancing control during extended shooting sessions. Reliability is consistent, performing well under diverse conditions with proper care. However, maintenance can be somewhat demanding, requiring attention to detail to ensure longevity. Parts availability may pose a challenge for some users, particularly for custom modifications. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds, which suits precision shooting but might feel heavy for newer shooters. Felt recoil is manageable for experienced users, though the larger caliber can be noticeable during rapid fire, potentially affecting follow-up shots for those less accustomed to the platform.
