About the Cartridge

This cartridge was developed by John Browning and was adopted by the United States Ordnance Department along with the Colt-Browning automatic pistol in 1911. It has also been made the official military handgun chambering by several other governments, notably Argentina, Mexico and Norway. The 45 Automatic is the most powerful military handgun cartridge in use today. This is a heavy and powerful sub-sonic round. Although its muzzle energy can exceed 400 ft-lbs, its velocity and bullet weight creates a steep trajectory curve that limits its effective range to self-defense distances.

The JHP Beast
By BlackJack50 on 15 Jan 2023
I just picked this pistol up recently. I like it, if you run out of bullets you can beat the hell out of someone with it, defense at its best! Seriously though, this has to be one of the most inexpensive handguns out there. I have two 1911's and this gun is just as accurate as them. Oh, I won't be packing it to church, but don't try checking my back door at midnight! It gets a lot of laughs at the range from the S&W fans in particular, but I have fun with them. The JHP is a great conversation starter. I wouldn't be without it!

A value pistol

I carry my HiPoint 45 when I’m in the woods or fly fishing in the boonies. It was $150. Lifetime warranty. It’s never jammed and is heavy. It’s not a pretty pistol, but it’s great for what I use it for. People laugh and make fun of it, but don’t care.

Cheap can be good...

Okay, to start with, I have large hands. I find the grip good and recoil mild. Reliability has been good with zero failures in over 1000 rounds. No fail to feed/eject/fire. Squeeze trigger and it goes boom, every time. No, it's not a Ruger, Remington, S&W or Glock but that doesn't keep this from being one fun pistol. Accuracy is good due to clear sights. Don't judge a product simply by price. The only issue is its size and weight, but that should not be a real issue if you have large hands, like me, who finds many pistol grips too small.
