Although the future of the Barak as an IDF service pistol is currently uncertain, IWI decided to introduce this pistol to the international market.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol from a well-known Israeli manufacturer demonstrates notable strengths in accuracy and ergonomics. Its design facilitates a natural grip, promoting consistent shot placement even during extended range sessions. Reliability is a key asset, with the firearm performing well under varied conditions, showing minimal malfunctions in testing. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5.5 pounds in single action, which aids precision for most shooters. However, felt recoil is somewhat pronounced due to the robust caliber and the pistol’s relatively lightweight frame, potentially challenging for those unaccustomed to larger handguns. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat intricate, requiring more time and attention than some competing models. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose difficulties outside of specific markets, limiting accessibility for some owners. Overall, it’s a solid option for shooters prioritizing performance, though it demands familiarity with its unique handling characteristics.
