The Kimber Custom Defense Package employs a 7075-T7 aluminum frame. Slides are machined from solid stainless steel and given a satin finish that will not reflect light. All CDP barrels and chambers are match grade for accuracy. Breech faces are polished and ejection ports are lowered and flared for reliable function. All edges of the pistol are rounded and blended by hand, leaving no sharp corners to catch clothing or dig into a holster.

Analysis

This .45 Auto pistol offers a compelling package for those seeking a compact carry option. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering tight groupings at typical defensive ranges, thanks to a well-designed barrel and sight system. Ergonomically, the grip fits comfortably in most hands, providing a secure hold during firing. Reliability is a strong point, with consistent performance across various ammunition types under standard conditions. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 4-5 pounds, which aids in precise shot placement. However, felt recoil can be sharp due to the compact frame, potentially challenging for newer shooters or those sensitive to kick. On the downside, maintenance can be somewhat intricate, requiring attention to detail during disassembly. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose difficulties, as availability isn’t always guaranteed. Overall, it’s a solid choice for experienced users, though it may not suit everyone’s needs.
