About the Gun

Originally named the GSR (Granite Series Rail) and then later referred to as the Revolution Series, these models are now simply known as the SIG 1911 Series. This is SIG's own version of Browning's classic 1911 platform manufactured in Exeter, New Hampshire. Originally only produced with an integral accessory rail (as the term GSR implied), both standard and rail models are now offered.

Analysis

This .45 Auto ultra-compact pistol offers a compelling option for concealed carry and personal defense. Its accuracy is commendable for a firearm of its size, delivering tight groupings at typical defensive ranges. The ergonomics are well-suited for most hand sizes, with a grip that facilitates a secure hold despite the compact frame. Reliability is generally consistent, performing well under varied conditions with proper care. The trigger pull is crisp, averaging around 5 pounds, which aids in precise shot placement. However, felt recoil can be sharp due to the lightweight design and powerful caliber, potentially challenging for less experienced shooters. On the downside, maintenance requires attention to detail, as the compact nature can complicate disassembly and cleaning. Additionally, sourcing replacement parts may pose difficulties, and the smaller capacity could be a limitation for some users seeking extended engagement potential.
