About the Gun

The P220 Compact SAS models mount a 3.9-inch barrel and shortened slide on a compact alloy frame sized for a 6-round .45 ACP magazine, with comprehensive SIG Anti-Snag melt dehorning applied to all edges and corners plus a bobbed hammer. They were offered primarily in black Nitron finish, with some two-tone examples featuring a natural stainless slide on the black frame, and produced in both DA/SA configuration with decocking lever (including Gen 2 with Short Reset Trigger) and limited DAK double-action-only versions.

Analysis

The P220 Compact SAS variants provided a concealable .45 ACP option by shortening both the slide/barrel assembly and grip frame while applying the full anti-snag treatment and bobbed hammer to minimize interference during draw from clothing or holsters. The DA/SA Gen 2 configuration retained the traditional double-action first shot with decocker and improved trigger reset, whereas any DAK versions delivered a consistent long trigger pull without external controls. This design succeeded the earlier P245 and offered a balance between reduced size and the platform’s locked-breech operation and accuracy. Production volumes were limited due to the compact dimensions and specialized anti-snag focus.
