The 3900 series consists of a variety of 9mm Luger 'Third Generation' pistols derived from the Model 39 and 439, the so-called 'First Generation' and 'Second Generation' patterns. They all have single column magazines. These are double-action semi-autos utilizing the well-tried Browning locking mechanism and a Walther-style decocking safety lever on the rear left side of the slide.

Analysis

This 9mm semi-automatic pistol offers a compelling package for shooters seeking a compact, duty-ready firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, with a well-designed barrel and sight system that aids in precise shot placement, even under rapid fire. Ergonomically, the grip fits comfortably in most hands, promoting a natural point of aim and reducing fatigue during extended sessions. Reliability is a strong suit, as it consistently cycles a variety of ammunition with minimal malfunctions. However, maintenance can be somewhat cumbersome due to its intricate design, requiring more time and care than simpler models. Parts availability may also pose a challenge, as some components are less common in today’s market. The trigger pull is smooth but slightly heavy, which might not suit all preferences, while the felt recoil is moderate, manageable for most users with proper technique. Overall, it’s a solid choice with a few practical considerations.
