Analysis

This classic revolver in .38 Special +P caliber offers a blend of time-tested design and practical performance for shooters seeking a reliable defensive or range firearm. Its accuracy is commendable, delivering consistent shot placement within typical engagement distances, thanks to a well-balanced frame and fixed sights. The ergonomics suit a wide range of hand sizes, with a grip that facilitates a natural hold. Reliability is a hallmark, as the mechanism functions smoothly under varied conditions with minimal risk of failure. The trigger pull is crisp in double-action mode, though it requires deliberate effort, while single-action offers a lighter, precise break. Felt recoil is moderate, manageable even with hotter +P loads. However, maintenance can be more involved compared to modern designs, and sourcing replacement parts may pose challenges. Additionally, some users might find the capacity limiting for certain applications.

Model 10 S&W

The standard for medium frame S&W .38 Special. Excellent build quality and finish. Easy to use, accurate and low recoil. I have version #2 with the Uncle Mikes grips. I would not mind the slab grips at all.
